The CNC Machinist certificate program offers an introduction to basic CNC lathe operation, proper machine safety, and fundamental machining processes. Machinists need to have a full understanding of their machine and this certificate program will provide the necessary information to become a CNC machinist.

What You Can Do

Upon completion of the CNC Machine Certificate program, students may find employment as a machine tool operator/programmer, lather operator, or mill operator, and an opportunity to start at a higher level in the workforce with quick advancement within a company. Beginning salaries are comparable to other technical careers with many opportunities for advancement.

The CNC Machinist Certificate is a minimum of 32 credit hours. Please use our Tuition and Fees page to calculate your approximate cost.

*Students will be responsible for additional classroom materials and tools.

All students registered for this program will be required to furnish a basic tool set. Note that cost will vary between different suppliers. The set will need to include the following:

  • Combination square (recommend: Starrett, Mitutoyo or Fowler)
  • Micrometer set 1鈥� & 2鈥� (recommend: Starrett, Mitutoyo or Fowler) optional
  • 6鈥� dial calipers (recommend: Starrett, Mitutoyo or Fowler)
  • Carbide tipped scribe
  • Steel toed work boots/shoes
  • Safety glasses with side shields
  • 6鈥� flexible rule
  • Shop apron
  • Ball end Allen wrench set (standard and metric)
  • Red lead pencil, grease pencil, and fine tip Sharpie
  • Tool box
  • 25鈥� tape measure
  • Blue jeans (100% cotton)
  • Long sleeve shirt (100% cotton)
