The JALC Center for Workforce Development provides a variety of Continuing Education and Professional Development courses. Classes can also be arranged for instruction which may be tailored to take place at the business site.

The Center for Workforce Development provides a variety of CPR and first aid programs to the workforce within the 51³Ô¹Ï A. Logan College District. 51³Ô¹Ï A. Logan College is authorized to offer emergency training courses by both the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
The following is a list and a description of the courses provided by 51³Ô¹Ï A. Logan College. These courses will provide certification for the care of adults, children, and infants. Classes can be arranged for instruction to take place at business sites. Each participant may be required to purchase certification cards or books from the certifying agency.
CPR CERTIFICATION – This course is designed to prepare the student to recognize cardiopulmonary emergencies, to administer immediate care, and to access the emergency system. (.5 hour college credit, 6.25-12.25 contact hours required)
CPR RE–CERTIFICATION – A basic course designed for those whose CPR certification is nearing expiration or has expired within six months of initial certification. Early identification of cardiopulmonary distress, immediate care, and obtaining assistance will be reviewed. (.5 hour college credit, 7 contract hours required)
FIRST AID – Designed to prepare the student to recognize emergencies, to give immediate care, and to access the medical system. (.5 hour college credit, 7 contact hours required)
BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS – Training which is relative to OSHA’s standards, including types of pathogens, pr51³Ô¹Ïion, precaution, immunization, exposure control, housekeeping, transmission and reporting.
PHLEBOTOMY SKILLS – This course is intended to train individuals in knowledge and skills need to perform phlebotomy (needle access of peripheral venous circulations) in adults.
PEDS CERTIFICATION – This is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches students to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.
This course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 U.S. states.
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – This course prepares and trains healthcare professionals on how to perform CPR. It includes adult, child, and infant resuscitation techniques and focuses on healthcare providers in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings, and for students entering a healthcare profession.

In collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) initiated a Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) in late 2009, in an effort to increase access to highway construction jobs for minorities, women and disadvantaged individuals.
