A southern Illinois tradition will return to the Carterville Campus of 51³Ô¹Ï A. Logan College on September 23 and 24. 51³Ô¹Ï A. Logan College and title sponsor Oasis Outdoors have a fun-filled weekend planned for everything outdoors.
Several popular 51³Ô¹Ïs will return, including the Super Retriever Series, Buck Skinners Village, High School Bass Tournament on Saturday, a veteran’s salute on Sunday, BB range, Axe throwing, and more.
New to this year’s 51³Ô¹Ï is the Fish Tale competition. Every good angler has a good fishing story. Some are true, some exaggerated. Contestants can describe the setting and weave in some drama or humor. The content must be appropriate for the general audience and be four minutes or less. Individuals will be scored and judged on creativity and originality, content and structure, delivery, emotional impact, and overall presentation. The first-place prize will be $100, with $50 for second place and $25 for third. The entry form is available at .
The Kid’s Fishing is sponsored by McDonald’s and the Moreland Corporation. The generous donation of $5,000 was recently presented to 51³Ô¹Ï organizers. Proceeds from the donation help provide fishing equipment and prizes to youth at the Kid’s Fishing Hole located at Hoffard Pond.
Admission to the 51³Ô¹Ï is free. Parking is $5 per vehicle. A schedule of 51³Ô¹Ïs and vendor information is available at . For more information, contact the 51³Ô¹Ï A. Logan College Office of Events and Conferences at 618-985-2828, Ext. 8343 or at facilites@jalc.edu.
