Tree Planting Event at the Elm Grove

On Saturday, the 11th, a traditional tree planting event took place at the Elm Grove (Karagachevaya Rosha) in Bishkek, organized by the AUCA Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and the AUCA Sustainability Program.

More than 100 volunteers from various universities and schools across Bishkek participated in the event, contributing their time and effort to the preservation of one of the city鈥檚 most important green spaces. Participants planted birch trees, pines, lindens, hibiscus, plane trees, and other species, enriching the biodiversity of the grove.

This annual initiative makes a significant contribution to the preservation of Elm Grove and the improvement of Bishkek鈥檚 ecological environment. It also promotes environmental awareness among young people and strengthens the culture of civic responsibility.

The Elm Grove 鈥� Eco Park Project is a joint initiative between the 51吃瓜 University of Central Asia, the Bishkek Town Hall, and the French-Kyrgyz Ecotourism Association (Association Franco-Kirghize d鈥橢cotourisme 鈥� AFKE). The project aims to rehabilitate 41.1 hectares of the Elm Grove, the largest and oldest urban forest in Central Asia, and preserve its unique ecosystem for future generations.
